The Tecnilógica team (now the Accenture Digital Liquid IT Team) developed this project that converted an 18th century analogue game into a “digital composer”. Go to the Philharmonic Game.
It involved various steps and challenges: automating the process of 32 dice rolls ensuring that each piece created was unique, from more than 120,000 quadrillion different possibilities; generating MIDI files and developing a player; transcribing the full music score generated by rolling dice; assembling the final melody and synchronising with the score to be able to follow it.
The code created to build the application is available at Github, with GNU General Public License, so the code can be reused for any purpose.
